Nothing says summer relaxation more than a beach vacation. Even if you can't make it to the beach, take some time to yourself and try this beach meditation. (Read through the instructions once before trying it out.)
Sit in a quiet room (or on your back porch if the weather's nice.) Take two deep breaths, then let your body's natural rhythm take over. Spend a few seconds focusing only on your breathing.
Close your eyes and put yourself at the beach. See the crystal clear blue waters. Hear the ocean waves kissing the shore, and the seagulls cawing in their flight. Feel the breeze upon your face. Smell the salty air and let your back warm with the sun.
Any time thoughts of home or the new school year intrude, say "Thank you for sharing" and let them drift away like a distant boat.
Try lying down on the sand and letting your body relax. Feel the earth beneath you as your body settles into the ground. Allow your muscles to release any tension.
